Estimators

Reporting to the company’s President, Vice President and General Manager of Operations , the Estimator will be responsible for but not limited to:

  • Assist Senior Estimators with all day-to-day responsibilities
  • Explain various railing system designs offered by the company
  • Respond to various questions customers ask during quote and/or project process and how to appropriately respond
  • Build strong relationships and trust with contractors/repeat customers so that Estimator becomes first point of contact for any railing needs
  • Drive to customer/potential customer sites across Vancouver Island/Gulf Islands
  • Take accurate measurements on-site used to produce estimates and shop drawings
  • Anticipate potential problem areas of a project and price/plan accordingly
  • Prepare estimate calculations
  • Generate customer estimates and proposals from approved estimate calculations
  • Assist with training Junior Estimators
  • Project management
    • Communicate with customers throughout project timeline
    • Prepare layouts and communicate with designer to ensure accuracy of shop drawings produced
    • Independently prepare shop drawings using in-house software when possible
    • Review shop drawings to ensure customer expectations will be met prior to production
    • Prioritize completion dates of personal projects for production team
    • Follow-up with production team and scheduler in order to ensure customer timelines met
    • Maintain personal projects list in project management software to ensure all projects completed in a timely manner
    • Communicate with installers to ensure installation completed according to plan
    • Follow-up on deficiencies and ensure corrective action taken in a timely manner
    • Problem-solve complex, unanticipated issues to develop the most efficient and low-cost remedy that will be satisfactory to the customer
      • Understands when problem-solving requires support and communicates with leadership clearly
    • Ensure inventory levels are adequate for all upcoming projects
    • Schedule engineering and provide documentation to clients when needed
  • Report safety concerns, deficiencies, and continuing challenges to management
  • Assist and provide support to team members in all departments when help is required
